SIGNATURE LEAD GIFT: $3 MILLION
The David S. and Janet R. Sheridan Foundation

From an old red barn in the rolling hills of Washington County in the 1950s, David Sheridan began inventing lifesaving medical device innovations that continue to make a difference today. Always humbled by and greatly appreciative of their success, David and his wife, Janet, later established the David S. and Janet R. Sheridan Foundation to support not-for-profit organizations throughout their regional community.

  • Since Mr. and Mrs. Sheridans’ deaths in 2004 and 2008, respectively, the Foundation has continued to give back. Glens Falls Hospital is privileged to have been a recipient of numerous Sheridan Foundation gifts over the years, including the lead gift for the 1998 emergency department renovation. Now, the Sheridan family has stepped forward once again, with an extremely generous Signature Lead Gift to build the new Sheridan Emergency Department.

LEAD GIFT: $2.25 MILLION
Hoopes Family Foundation

  • For more than a century, the Hoopes family has been synonymous with charitable giving in the Greater Glens Falls Region.

    With family ties encompassing the early years and longtime leadership of the Finch, Pruyn & Co., Inc. papermill along the banks of the Hudson River in downtown Glens Falls, the family has given generously to the arts, historic preservation, environmental protection and, of course, to bettering the health of communities across the region. Glens Falls Hospital has held an important place in the hearts of Hoopes family members for generations, and we thank them for their heartfelt and generous support of our new Emergency Department.

LEAD GIFT: $1 MILLION
Charles R. Wood Foundation

  • Charles R. (Charley) Wood had the time of his life sharing his good fortune with the region that embraced his dreams. His legacy of giving continues today through the Charles R. Wood Foundation.

    The visionary founder of the Storytown USA theme park (now Six Flags Great Escape) and many other hospitality businesses across the Lake George region, Mr. Wood established the Foundation in 1978 to provide assistance to nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on programs for children, healthcare and the arts. Glens Falls Hospital is honored to have been the beneficiary of the Wood Foundation’s generosity on numerous occasions, including its transformative gift to create our highly respected C.R. Wood Center. Now, the Foundation’s gift for our new Emergency Department will help provide a new level of care to people across our region.
